Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (such as French or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake the casserole uncovered for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for the best texture; make sure cubes are of roughly the same size.
