These cookies are a delightful blend of cardamom and orange, featuring a crisp exterior and a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior, all topped with a glossy orange glaze.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the flour, salt, cardamom, and orange zest, mixing until just combined.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten each ball gently with the bottom of a glass.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  6. While the cookies are cooling, prepare the orange glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth.
  7. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use plant-based butter. Adjust the glaze consistency with additional orange juice or powdered sugar as needed.
