Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to maintain that chewy texture.
- Fold in the dried cranberries, orange zest, and nuts if you’re using them.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced adequately.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for about 30 minutes if your kitchen is warm to prevent excessive spreading.
