Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (in dough)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
  • Oil for frying (neutral oil with a high smoke point)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the flour. Mix until smooth.
  3. Let cool for 3-5 minutes, then mix in the egg until glossy.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Pipe small rounds of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Drain on paper towels and roll in cinnamon-sugar while still warm.
  7. For the filling, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Fill each fried round with the cheesecake mixture.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature for the best experience.

Notes

Use room-temperature cream cheese for a smooth filling. Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature.
