  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla.
  3. Stir until just combined; fold in the diced apples.
  4. In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop batter by spoonfuls into hot oil in batches, cooking 3-4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  6. Remove fritters to a wire rack or paper towels.
  7. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  8. Drizzle glaze over warm fritters and dust with extra powdered sugar if desired.
