Ingredients
Scale
- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut into 1″ pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or sunflower)
Instructions
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each piece of mozzarella stick into the flour, shaking off the excess.
- Coat the floured piece in the beaten eggs.
- Roll it in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture until fully covered. For a thicker crust, double-dip in eggs and breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce.
Notes
For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs. Freeze the breaded pieces before frying to help reduce cheese leakage.
