Crispy and low-calorie jicama fries made in the air fryer for a crunchy snack alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium jicama (about 1.5 pounds)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Extra salt for finishing

Instructions

  1. Peel the jicama and cut it into thick slices, then into thin fry sticks.
  2. Soak the jicama sticks in water for 30 minutes if they feel stiff.
  3. In a bowl, toss the jicama sticks with olive oil and spices until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Spread the jicama fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  6. Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Sprinkle with extra salt before serving.

Notes

These fries are delicious with dips like spicy ketchup or garlic aioli. For unexpected crunch, try them as a salad topper!
