  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 batch of mashed potatoes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion and minced garlic. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the beef broth, sliced mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and frozen mixed vegetables to the skillet. Stir until well combined and bring to a simmer.
  4. Pour the beef mixture into a baking dish.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheese over the beef mixture.
  6. Spoon a layer of mashed potatoes over the cheese and spread it out evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until heated through and the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For additional flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like thyme or parsley to the beef mixture. If the mashed potatoes are too thick, add a bit of cream or milk.
