Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, sliced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheese of your choice
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion, seasoning it with salt and pepper. Stir occasionally until the meat is thoroughly cooked and the onions are translucent.
- In a baking dish, layer the sliced potatoes. Evenly distribute the browned beef mixture on top of the potatoes.
- Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the layers, ensuring it’s evenly spread.
- Sprinkle your choice of shredded cheese generously over the top.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the oven. Bake for about 1 hour or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
- For the last 10 minutes of baking, remove the foil to give the cheese a lovely golden-brown finish.
- Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving it hot.
Notes
To achieve the best results, ensure potato slices are uniform and consider adding herbs for flavor.
