Delightful Holiday Cookie Bars combining chocolate, nuts, and a sweet buttery flavor, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend into the buttery mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
  9. For best results, store bars in the freezer for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute with gluten-free flour. You can also use coconut oil in place of butter for a healthier option.
