Ingredients
Scale
- 450 grams ground lamb (or any ground meat)
- 1 grated onion (food processed into a paste with 1 tsp water)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 teaspoons sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a mixing bowl, add the ground meat along with all the other ingredients. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
- Divide the meat mixture in half for easier handling.
- Take a sheet of parchment paper and place one half of the mixture in the middle.
- Carefully press and spread the meat into a thin, even rectangle.
- Roll the parchment over the meat from the long side until you reach the end, forming a flat roll.
- Repeat this step with the second portion of meat.
- Place the rolled meat on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 40 minutes or until cooked through.
- Once cooked, let cool slightly, then carefully unroll and break the meat apart.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and pop it back in the oven until lightly golden and slightly crisp.
- Serve your doner kebab in a pita or bowl topped with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, red onion, and your choice of garlic sauce.
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using leaner cuts of meat or plant-based alternatives. Experiment with different meat combinations for varied flavors.
