Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- Extra maple syrup for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with non-stick spray or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Whisk together until well mixed.
- In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, whole milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean and edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of milk until smooth, adding more milk until you reach the desired consistency.
- Drizzle the maple glaze over the cooled bars and add extra maple syrup if desired. Allow glaze to set before slicing.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, substitute whole milk with a full-fat plant-based milk while maintaining butter for texture. Adjust sugar if needed but keep maple syrup for flavor.
