Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and then add the vanilla extract, mixing well until completely incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cardamom.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  6. Stir in the orange zest until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them evenly apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden; don’t overbake!
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and enjoy your delicious cookies!
