Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup tempura batter mix
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, prepare the tempura batter according to package instructions.
  3. Dip the shrimp in the tempura batter and fry in batches until golden brown.
  4. In a separate pan, toast the walnuts over medium heat until golden.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine honey, mayonnaise, and lemon juice, and heat until warm.
  6. Toss the fried shrimp in the honey sauce until coated.
  7. Serve the shrimp topped with candied walnuts.

Notes

Maintain oil temperature while frying to avoid greasy or burnt batter. For best texture, toss shrimp lightly in sauce off heat.
