  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and chopped
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine sauerkraut, cream cheese, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well-blended.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the sauerkraut balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Chop the sauerkraut finely to avoid moisture pockets and keep the oil temperature steady for best results.
