Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into meatballs and set aside.
  2. In the slow cooker, layer the sliced onions and add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and bay leaf.
  3. Place the meatballs on top of the onion mixture.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the meatballs are cooked through and tender.
  5. Remove bay leaf before serving. Enjoy with crusty bread or over rice.

Notes

Choose firm onions and avoid overworking the meat mixture for tender meatballs.
