- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into meatballs and set aside.
- In the slow cooker, layer the sliced onions and add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and bay leaf.
- Place the meatballs on top of the onion mixture.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the meatballs are cooked through and tender.
- Remove bay leaf before serving. Enjoy with crusty bread or over rice.
Notes
Choose firm onions and avoid overworking the meat mixture for tender meatballs.
