A delightful combination of creamy sweet potatoes and tart cranberries, topped with Gruyère cheese and breadcrumbs for a festive dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 cups Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes thinly for even cooking.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sweet potato slices.
  4. Spread cranberries evenly over this layer.
  5. Sprinkle half of the Gruyère cheese on top.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining sweet potatoes, cranberries, and cheese.
  7. In a bowl, mix heavy cream with salt, pepper, and rosemary. Pour this mixture over the layered gratin.
  8. Top with breadcrumbs and dot with butter.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Allow the gratin to cool slightly before serving.
