Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For healthy variations, use unsweetened applesauce instead of sugar. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or a week refrigerated.
